Nuku Studio creates and grows a self-sustained photography community and network. It provides the Ghanaian photography community with a safe space to meet, experiment, exchange, inspire and be inspired, and grow. Its protected space is open to all creatives and visual artists and invites especially women photographers to be active part of the community, as it is still a very male-dominated field.
The evening is a moment to discuss the opportunities, challenges and experiences of women in photography in Ghana.
The programme includes a presentation of a cooperation between Nubuke Foundation and African Lens on a group exhibition at Nubuke Foundation earlier this year, which highlighted the work of leading African women photographers. It was based on the women-focused 4th edition of the African Lens, an independent publication featuring and celebrating African photographers.
Lensational will present its work in Ghana, and its exhibition “Women & Work”, currently showing at Alliance Francaise in Kumasi as part of the Nuku Festival.
The following photographers will share their works and journey: Josephine Kuuire, Jessica Sarkodie, and Ruth McDowall.
The programme is moderated by Bianca Manu, Nubuke Foundation.
The event is free and open to everyone.
